M I C H E L A D A

Sometimes referred to as the “Mexican Bloody Mary”, although lighter in flavor than the traditional Bloody Mary, which is why it is my BRUNCH FAVE!

Common Question:

WHAT THE HECK IS A MICHELADA?

This tends to pop up from time to time around the brunch table…

AND Traditionally you’ll find most micheladas will consist of ---- a mexican beer of sorts, LOTS of lime, a touch of hot sauce, and tomato juice, served up with a salted rim - so very refreshing. Will note though everywhere I go and order one it always tends to be a tad different from the other, I guess we’re not the only ones that like to experiment with our food and dranks :).

Would love to know, have you had one before?

This morning… We’ve taken it a step further and are about to introduce you to one of our most favorite GTB twists and if you're reading this right now - welcome to the la familia!

The great thing about Micheladas is that you really have the ability to customize it to your liking, so feel free to play around with our suggestions and comment down below and let us know what some of our favorite twists may be!

Side Note: I actually put a Michelada Kit together for a White Elephant one year and it was the hit of the party! So even a great perhaps unique gift idea!

Brunch-Cha-Cha Mango Michelada

Prep Time: 5 minutes | Total Time: 7 minutes

Optional Soundtrack: Hips Don’t Lie - Shakira

Ingredients (1 Serving)

  • 1 (12-ounce) chilled light Mexican beer (Corona, Modelo, SOL, Pacifico, I typically nab a Modelo)

  • ½ lime (juiced)

  • ½ lime (sliced)

  • ¾  cup mango juice ( I always use Ceres Mango Puree and I pick it up from Whole Foods)

  • 2 Tablespoons of Tajin

  • 1 tablespoon of Kosher Salt

  • ICE

  • Hot sauce (optional - Personally I don’t love a ton of heat so I literally do 2-3 drops of franks hot sauce or sriracha - whichever I have around)

  • Jalapeno (for garnish - optional)

  • ½ cup of Sliced Mango (for garnish)

  • *To really punch it up feel free to add a tablespoon of a mango flavored vodka or tequila.

Preparations:

  1. Combine salt and Tajin in a shallow dish. Rub a lime wedge around the rim of a tall glass and then press the rim into the salt-tajin mixture to coat.

  2. Fill glass 2/3 full with crushed ice (my preference) and then add lime juice and mango juice.

  3. Add in a few drops of hot sauce if desired and stir to combine. Garnish with Lime, a couple slices of Mango or a couple of slices of Jalapeno (depending on your heat level).

  4. Top with beer and serve remaining beer on the side (you may have extra beer, but you can continue adding to your glass as you drink it down).

  5. ENJOY and we cannot wait to hear from you on how you enjoy your Michelada experience!

Xoxo, Salud Babes!
